Operation Grab Bag

Agent Frederick Reed approached the podium placed at the front of the room, manila folder held under his arm. He stepped up, placing the folder onto the podium with a light thud. He cleared his throat to grab everyone's attention before beginning his speech, "Uhh..Welcome everyone to the debriefing to retrieval operation number 6239, codenamed "Grab Bag". I understand that some of you may be confused by the number of people in this room, and by the fact that not everyone in here is an Agent or Combat certified individual. This will all be explained in due time, but first will you please remove your files from underneath your chairs, and read over the details.

Intel Gatherings

Thus far, info has gathered that the region we are entering has become politically unstable in the recent weeks, and has turned violent as of 17 hours from mission debriefing. We have confirmed that Operators from the following organization:
-Chaos Insurgency
-Global Occult Coalition (GOC)
-Marshall Carter&Dark (MC&D)
Such entities, if encounter in the field, should be treated with high discretion, with use of deadly force authorized. GOC is considered our main combatant. Current intel suggests they plan to destroy the anomalous object that is subject to our retrieval, so it is imperative that they be stopped from completing their objective at all costs. Other Groups of Interest (GoI) are assumed to have the same objectives as us.

The current authorized Foundation assets to be deployed into the field are as follows:

-MTF Pi-1 "City Slickers"
-MTF Delta-5 "Front Runners"
-Maximum of 12 Unassigned Operative*
*number of agents is capped due to need for secrecy during Operation. Numbers may be adjusted as situation develops once Agents enter the Area of Operations (AO).

Due to the volatility of the area and the current inability to decipher reliable information from contacts, use of hand held drones, Sat-phones, as well as a RQ-1 Predator Drone circling to provide any support that may be needed during the operation.

Object in question is believed to be a small vase about 24 cm tall with a width of 14 cm at it's widest point. exact affects of the Vase are currently unclear, but it is believed to have some sort of memetic agent at work. Field agents are highly advised to follow procedures 1924 and 2376 until exact effects can be discerned.

Operators will be deployed via CH-47 Chinook into designated LZ exactly 3 Km from target location at 21:00. All further questions regarding procedure and operational clearances are to be directed to appropriate field advisers.

Banks reads through the file, the mission seemed pretty straightforward.  Glancing around the room, he notices some of the agents must be new... hell some of them, this was probably their first mission.  Some of these people wouldn't be returning home; and if Steven was honest with himself, he wasn't sure how to feel about that.  It wasn't because he didn't care, no it was due to the fact that he hadn't been a mobile task force member in years.
The Director had sent him on this mission, and looking through the file he could understand why.  Popping a sucker into his mouth Banks glances through the files once more.  This mission seemed pretty cut and dry, which was something he liked; but missions like these had some good odds that things would go screwy... he just hoped, that if the crap hit the fan, he'd be left standing.

Abbott thumbs through the files. This seemed simple for the most part, save for finding three different Groups of Interest gunning for the same objective. She had never seen Marshall Carter & Dark go for one of her targets yet. She was genuinely surprised. This Vase… How valuable was it? or How valuable is what it does?
Looking at the designated Mobile Task Forces, she becomes even more interested. “Sir? I’ve noticed that Pi-1 will be going in on this op. We aren’t raiding the MoMA again, are we?” She asks with a dead serious face. She was familiar with a not so favorable operation, involving the Global Occult Coalition. “Didn’t we encounter trouble the last time?”

Junior agent Mark McHarvy, who had taken a seat in the middle of the room on the left side. He read, reread, and reread the file three times. He kinda recognizes the groups of interest; the one that wants to weaponize SCP, the one that usually wants to kill all the SCP, and the one that wants to sell all the SCP. He also recognizes the task forces, City Slickers and Front Runners. So from just that he can assume this is going to be in a densely populated place so he's going to have to blend in with whoever's there and the groups of interest are going to be blending in also. He looks around the room trying to memorize the faces he's going to be working with so he doesn't get confused in the field.
He then thinks about the effects of the vase memetic is a very broad term. Front Runners are probably going in first to assess the situation so he wouldn't have to worry about that.

Reed locks eyes with the questioning woman, taking a moment to close his personal file before answering, "MoMA has not been sighted in the AO, so it can be assumed this current Operation has no relation to any of our prior endeavors against the GOC. Pi-1 is being attached to this Operation because of the environment and atmosphere that is currently enveloping the city where our object is being held." The agent looks around the room before questioning again, "Anymore questions?"

She gives a nod of acknowledgement as she looks through the rest of the file. She looks through for whatever she did not know, then supplements the void with notes she had on the previous few operations. There wasn't a pattern...
Not yet.
She sighs quietly as her eyes drift from her notes and briefing to the other agent's in the room. She hadn't worked with any of them yet. Maybe one or two could indulge her in a talk about the Chaos Insurgency, provided most of them survive.

"Are we assume that this object is one that can be used for recreational use," Banks asks, curious as to why Marshal Carter and Dark were going after the object. Glancing down at the file once more, he read through again trying to gleam any information about its properties.

Reed locks eyes with the Agent to his far left, taking quick note of the sucker in his mouth, "The object was originally discovered in the home of a wealthy family, and is believed to have been within the residence for at least ten to fifteen years, and medical records show no ill affects on the individuals."

"Well that's good to know, but don't you wonder why those three would take an interest in this. I only ask, because I find it strange that Marshal Carter and Dark are showing up to the party. I get the GOC, it's their thing. Even with the Insurgency it makes sense, very little needs to be done to weaponize it... but the Auctioneers? I've only seen them show up when they can make a profit." Banks points out taking the sucker out of his mouth. It might've been the recent mission, but something about this really bothered him.

"Currently, we have no reason to suspect any cross group collaboration, though it is plausible. Keep your eyes open in the field, if you spot anything suspicious, call it into Overwatch so our intel team can start digging into it."

"So what exactly are we talking here, a place like good old NYC or is it a more backwater hick town?" Dean glances up from the document without actually moving his head.

Reed looks at the Man sitting staring at his file, "Our destination is Guanta, Venezuela. The town was originally founded in 1594 when the Spanish were exploring. Has a population of about 35,000. seems small and insignificant, but the division between the rich and the poor has been the sparking for some serious violence. a bit of digging on intel's end showed that a lot of the rich there give generous donations to the president of Venezuela, so he's cutting them a favor by sending in some military forces to keep his friends safe. So, as of 0800 yesterday, the population is 40,000." He flips through his notes again to ensure he has his numbers right.

Forty thousand? She gives an unconscious frown. Pi-1 has been known to operate in populations of eight million people. Sending the City Slickers in would be overkill in these circumstances. This all seemed like overkill to Abbott. “What effect does this vase have on the Area of Operation? Has its presence, perhaps, been accelerating hostility between the social class?” She asks as she deliberates the past information.

"It's possible, but if that was the case the rich would be fighting back; and if it is this Vase that's causing it, why did it just kick in now." Banks explains sliding the blue raspberry sucker to the other side of his mouth. Looking up at Reed Steven then casually asks, "You said that there are forty thousand in the town, I'm guessing not including other groups of interest... how many of those forty thousand are fighting?"

Raphael sighs, sitting in the back Raphael has been noting the individual members who showed up and received information as well as those who failed to be present. Forms allowing for the members to have said info and forms that allow the foundation to act as necessary in case of incident were filed per agent and each staff member present. This was of course in accordance to the acknowledging waivers and forms signed as the members joined their current job. A late acquisition form for the use of a tracking truck placed 5 km from the location to provide radar support for the drones and Chinook. Also the truck provides a good satellite bouncing station for the transfer of data. Social media teams and bribes are allocated for info gathering as supplied by the Venezuelan populace and military. The UN channels are tapped as well as info from GOC to try to estimate at least their numbers that are going to be in the region.

Raphael states "I am not here for on the ground work, I am the one here to review what is going on as well as the amount of information spread. If you learn anything tell your higher ups but act with discrepancy when telling others around you, not all of you are researchers. The more you know the more reason for them to interrogate you and with the amount of ways to make people talk no one has a truly secure mind. In answer to the Question about MC&D there is always a buyer and they have all the time they need, and with three interested parties besides MC&D they can get profit from them. As you should know other benefits of city training are close quarters combat, and activity in high populations of innocents. To answer the question about the dangers of the innocents, ask yourself if they can be coerced through money as the army already has been. Also know as we are not paying any side here anyone could be an enemy." Raphael relaxes after the long tirade, Raphael prefers not to be known or recognized but if they are going to be fish in a proverbial barrel made up of a Venezuelan town and many enemies, they might as well know what is going on when ████ hits the fan.

Abbott stares at Raphael, mouth open to speak but nothing coming out. She closes her mouth and looks back to her notes. The slim man definitely commanded some sort of presence. How long has this man been in the foundation? To be able to understand this so quickly and thoroughly... Not even the Foreign Legion had as much intel as him. Who was this guy?

Reed looks wide eyed at the ethics committee member for a moment, surprised to see such a rare sight, especially in his debriefing room. "Thank you Mister.." the agent flipped through his list of personnel assigned to the mission, spotting his name, "Mister Haven. I see you're on our logistics team, will you be in the field preforming your work or are you going into the intel room on level 2?"

Raphael replies "I will be on level 2 in order to keep secrecy prioritized I will be organizing the containment crew in tandem with the operation. Did you remember to invite them, or do I have to contact the project members myself, Reed?" He puts a sheet listing the project members on and waits on the answer.

Reed nods to the ethics member, then returns his focus to Banks. "We don't have exact numbers on the Groups of interests, but we assume it's going to be similar to our numbers."

"Well that's to be expected, but I was wondering how many of the civilians were going to be fighting?" Banks asks, taking the sucker out of his mouth he scribbles a couple of notes in the margins of the paper.

Mark made his own notes on the sides of the paper handed to him, underlining what he thought was important. He noted that Abbott, the same woman from the weight room, was there. He thought it was best to stick with her since he was just a junior agent. He was mesmerized by the fact that this man in the back knew so much about the mission. McHarvy almost asked if he knew what the vase did, but stopped himself, knowing that that's why they where being sent to find out.

Reeds flipped through his notes once more before shaking his head and answering Banks, "currently we are unable to discern exact numbers, but it's estimated around 10-15,000"

Reed looks at his watch, referencing the clock on the wall to be certain his watch has been set to the proper time zone, before taking his file and placing it under his arm once more, "Alright people, listen up: Great questions from all of you, but we need to head to hanger bay 3 asap. Our ride will be here in exactly 30 minutes."
